Lubo Tam: Distraction & Destruction
In the chapter of "Distraction & Destruction," we delve into the complexities of distractions and how they can potentially lead to self-destruction. We explore how the modern world, filled with endless stimuli, can divert our attention from the things that truly matter to us. These distractions, while often seemingly harmless, can lead us down a path of unfulfilled potential and away from our true purpose. The chapter encourages readers to be mindful of their focus, to recognize distractions for what they are, and to make conscious choices that align with their deeper goals and values.

They are everywhere! Distraction and destruction that is…The constant pull and push from everything around us and sometimes inside of us. Life is nothing but a playground but, in this playground, everyone has their own individual game they are partaking in and trying to level up. Others choose to play the game alone; others will create artificial groups to partake. If you are not playing the same games as those groups. Then do not take your eyes away from yours unless it’s to learn from their movement and actions. This remark may have a harsh connotation to it, and I feel I should dig a bit deeper to explain.

This reality that we currently inhabit has both natural and artificial laws through ways of governance, management, and control. We have countries, states, companies, currencies, laws, and governments and sometimes even people (citizen) which exist, but they are playing on artificial structure. This concept however is not understood by everyone because there are individuals who are using natural law in an artificial world but not comprehending the variation in the degrees of these realities. The two can coexists, however, if we are playing on artificial law then we all need to understand that we are playing on that and vice versa. In most situations an individual operating on natural law emotionally invested into obtaining a certain outcome of change. However, not understanding that to get such an outcome artificial laws and governance would place high restriction on them achieving such an outcome without a certain level of influence.

We have great imbalance in this reality currently because we may have regions that are highly dominant in understanding natural law. Then there are other regions that stems and operates mostly on artificial law. Now because a high percentage of our society currently appear to interact on artificial law. The ability for the regions and individuals operating in natural law to trade fairly is reduced due to disparity in understanding of the two realities. Artificial law requires extensive studies but not only that it’s constantly evolving. It’s like kicking a ball towards a goal post and just as the ball is about to roll pass the goal line, the whole goal is moved. To add to that, artificial law has an established foundation based on social influence. Usually if one creates a foundation of something they may have greater control and leverage than of those who created their structures on top of the initial foundation. Now is it possible for us to achieve balance and a more harmonious playing ground where both on artificial and natural law we can understand each other? Yes. We need start by ask, what, why and how as a collective, see the chapter on Habits>Goals. Now let us get back to the topic of distraction and destruction.

We most often time stagnate or fail from reaching our objectives and goals because either we get distracted, or destruction occurred. Destruction is relating to physical disturbances whether in the flesh or the environment that we inhabit. If you inhabit an environment that is prone to experiencing wars and violence on a regular basis, this could result in destruction of flesh or disturbance to one’s establishment. Destruction of course can be an extension of natural causes and sometimes we amplify onto those natural factors.

Distraction on the other hand relates to information overloaded to one’s system. High volume of information is transmitted in a way that our system cannot collect and process the data and still be able to maintain course towards an objective. Distraction in our modern-day society is what we as people have become more prone towards. Destruction often time is an external influence and distraction often is dictated by our internal management capacity. Distraction is managed by how one reacts to situation and condition in the emotional, mental, and physical sense. However, they can be both internally and externally activated. Destruction can occur internally based on our lifestyle choices what we consume (eat, think, inhale, drink, hear). If these habits and task are performed excessively in a prolonged manner the result could lead to break down of our system.
